Question 1

What is tallow, and why do you use it?

Accepted Answer

Tallow is rendered fat from grass-fed cattle: nature's most biocompatible moisturizer. Its fatty acid profile mirrors human sebum, allowing it to absorb deeply without clogging pores. We use only suet-derived tallow from pasture-raised Michigan cattle, slow-rendered in small batches for maximum nutrient density.

Question 2

Are your products safe for sensitive skin?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our formulations are free from synthetic fragrances, parabens, seed oils, and petrochemicals. Tallow is inherently gentle and has been used for centuries on all skin types, including eczema-prone and irritation-sensitive skin.

Question 3

What botanicals do you use?

Accepted Answer

Each blend features a unique botanical signature: from certified organic calendula and chamomile to essential oils of frankincense, lavender, and cedarwood. Every ingredient is chosen for its synergy with tallow's restorative properties.

Question 4

Are your products organic or certified?

Accepted Answer

We source certified organic botanicals wherever possible. While our finished products are not USDA Certified Organic, our commitment to purity exceeds most certified standards. Every ingredient is traceable and intentionally selected.

Question 5

Do your products contain essential oils?

Accepted Answer

Some blends contain therapeutic-grade essential oils carefully diluted to skin-safe levels. Each product page lists its full ingredient composition so you can make an informed choice.

Question 6

I noticed water pooling on the surface when I first opened my jar: is that normal?

Accepted Answer

Completely normal. Our tallow is a thermally reactive, untamed composition: it breathes and separates slightly during transit or temperature shifts. Any moisture on the surface will reabsorb on its own very quickly. If you'd like to speed it up, simply stir gently with a clean stick or utensil. It's a sign of a vital, living provision: not a defect.

Question 7

How should I store my tallow products?

Accepted Answer

Store in a temperate sanctuary: a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. This provision is thermally reactive and performs best when kept cool. Tallow balms have a natural shelf life of 12–18 months. Refrigeration is not required but can extend freshness in warmer climates.

Question 8

How long does shipping take?

Accepted Answer

Retail orders are forged fresh to order: each jar is hand-made and cured for 5–7 days. Plan on 7–10 days from order to shipment, plus carrier transit time. Wholesale orders take approximately 2 weeks (14 days) to process from confirmation.

Question 9

Do you ship internationally?

Accepted Answer

At this time, we ship within the United States only. International availability is something we're exploring for the future.

Question 10

What is your return policy?

Accepted Answer

We stand behind every jar. If you're unsatisfied with your purchase, contact us within 30 days for a full refund or exchange. Products must be at least half-full to qualify.

Question 11

Is free shipping available?

Accepted Answer

Yes: free shipping is available on qualifying retail orders. Check the current free shipping threshold at checkout. Wholesale orders have separate shipping terms.

Question 12

Can I track my order?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. Once your order ships, you'll receive a tracking number via email. Wholesale buyers can also track orders through their Merchant Dashboard.

Question 13

What does 'Sovereign' mean in your brand name?

Accepted Answer

Sovereignty means self-ownership: dominion over your own body, health, and choices. We believe skincare should be an act of reclamation: returning to ancestral wisdom, rejecting industrial compromise, and choosing what is truly restorative.

Question 14

Where are your products made?

Accepted Answer

Everything is handcrafted in small batches at the Athanor Lab in Michigan. From rendering to pouring, every step is done by hand with intention.

Question 15

What is the 'Fellowship' program?

Accepted Answer

The Fellowship is our wholesale partnership for boutiques, apothecaries, and practitioners who want to carry Sovereign Skincare. It's by invitation: request access through our Fellowship page and we'll respond within two setting suns.

Question 16

What does 'Restorative Tallow Alchemy' mean?

Accepted Answer

It's our craft philosophy. 'Restorative' because we heal, not mask. 'Tallow' because it's nature's most potent skin food. 'Alchemy' because transformation: of ingredients, of skin, of self: is at the heart of everything we do.

Question 17

Do you test on animals?

Accepted Answer

Never. Our products are cruelty-free. We honor the whole animal by using ethically sourced tallow from cattle already raised for food: ensuring nothing goes to waste.
